Palm Beach Tan has changed the image of the indoor tanning store forever by introducing the concept of the “Tanning Superstore.” Each Palm Beach Tan salon boasts two to three times the square footage of a typical tanning salon. And unlike many stores that are located on the second floor of a class "C" strip mall, Palm Beach Tan superstores are strategically positioned in high-profile, class "A" retail developments. This has greatly increased the sales volume of the stores, attracting customers who might not have previously considered indoor tanning.

Most important, new product innovation has been the driving force in this market. Sunless tanners have expanded to include a number of options, ranging from Mystic Tan®, a sunless spray system, to traditional sunless tanning creams, sprays and bronzers. Even the moisturizing indoor tanning lotions have a hint of self-tanner added to them.

The U.S. sunless tanning industry has experienced 429% growth in the past five years (2001 to 2006). 1 The current sunless tanning marketplace is estimated at about $185 million, boosting growth in the larger suncare sector in a trend that is expected to continue through 2011, when the tanning market is estimated to top $500 million. 2
